Staffing Solutions for Foreign-based Steel Manufacturing Plant

Our partner is a foreign, multi-billion dollar industry leader who operates in over 50 countries worldwide. They build and operate some of the most advanced and environmentally friendly direct reduction facilities in the world.

Our partner broke ground in April 2014 in South Texas’ largest foreign investment to date–$740 million. This project will result in a natural gas direct reduction plant with an annual capacity of 2 million metric tons of Hot Briquetted Iron (HBI). HBI is a high-grade feedstock for the production of high-quality steel grades.

This project has a calculated additional economic impact to our region of $650 million. It will bring 150 permanent jobs as well as over 800 transient construction jobs. The projected facility startup is December 2015.

As a foreign investor, our partner was unfamiliar with American business operation. They would need a solid extension of their foreign team to help guide the recruitment of key executive staff for a successful South Texas operation.

Unique brought the solutions to ease all of their human relations concerns. Our team has become their full resource center—providing human resources, staffing, hiring, and payroll guidance. From a recruiting standpoint, our team assisted with job descriptions, salary structure, ad creation and advertisements (print and online), pre-screening of hundreds of candidates, interviewing guidance, and offer letters.

Unique is honored to have played such a key role in identifying the best talent to fill their core team. Collectively, Unique has successfully staffed up (what will become) a billion dollar plant with their first American staff members. This has paved the road for a fruitful long term partnership for many years to come.
